Those Staying in Phnom Penh During the Khmer New Year Can Attend Wat Phnom Sankranta!

PHNOM PENH: The Phnom Penh Capital Administration will be organizing "Wat Phnom Sankranta" from 8 AM to 8 PM for three days (14-16 April 2023).

People can come and enjoy traditional games, classical music concerts, dances, and various exhibitions of ancient paintings and cultural artifacts. There will also be traditional religious ceremonies such as New Year Welcoming Angel ceremony, the Daun Penh Hill Tribute Ceremony, the Buddha Parade, the Sand Hill Ceremony, the Buddha showering ceremony, and more.

In order to make Wat Phnom Sankranta even more exciting, the Phnom Penh Capital Administration is inviting all citizens to come and enjoy the event in large numbers.

The Administration encourages citizens to participate in Khmer traditional games, but prohibits citizens from engaging in water fights, including spraying water, throwing water bags, throwing white powder and slapping people's backs while driving on the road. The Administration also prohibits gambling, the use of fireworks or other explosives of any kind, during the Khmer New Year.

The Phnom Penh Capital Administration has advised people to drive safely and in accordance with traffic laws, to avoid driving under the influence and to be careful of accidentally causing fires.
